Welcome to 2012!

At the beginning of a new year most people post resolutions. It is January 10th, 2012 and this year I did not do any resolutions like in years past. There are some things that I planned to do at the beginning of 2011 that I accomplished. On December 24th,2011 I received my Mild to Moderate Intervention Specialist License in the mail. You may ask what is that? You already know that I am a History teacher that can teach any grade 7th-12th. This is a license that involves Special Education. I really became interested in helping students with learning disabilities while I was student teaching. This led me to pursue this Special Education license. Most of the substitute work I have been doing lately has involved working with students with learning disabilities in the mild to moderate range. I have been pleasantly surprised in that I really enjoy working with the elementary kids in this area. In 2013 I plan to pursue my Reading endorsement as well. I am just taking 2012 off from school because I do need a break from studying, I took three Praxis tests in a span of two years! If you have ever taken a Praxis test you know how time-consuming they are and how much you need to study for them. I hope 2012 is an excellent year for everyone and that your lives are all filled with Peace, Love and God’s blessings as well.

It has been a long time

Wow! I almost forgot about this blog. Since the last time I posted I have been licensed to teach 7-12 Social Studies and have completed the coursework to become a Mild to Moderate Intervention Specialist for grades K-12. Now all I need to do is complete the Practicum for that too. That should make for an interesting fall. I need to come back here and post more often too.

I am still here.

It is a warm and humid Saturday here by me so I thought I would post a new entry into my blog. On July 24th next month I will be taking my Praxis exams to officially become a licensed teacher! I am ready to take them and pass with flying colors. I have both of my study guides here and have been looking them over. In the fall I am going to take 4 more classes to get a mild to moderate intervention specialist licensure so that I can definitely get my foot in the door with teaching. Nowadays unless you teach special ed, math, or science (specifically physical) it is hard to get a teaching job. My ultimate goal is to teach history to either middle or high school but sometimes you have to take an extra turn in order to get to your destination. I have taught 3 inclusion classes during my student teaching experience so I am ahead of the game right now.
Hopefully it won’t rain today either cause I would sure like to get to the pool sometime today.
